Recreational surface fishing is that which is carried out from the shore or from non-professional boats, using rods, hooks and other authorized tackle.

This activity is for recreational and sporting purposes, and not for commercial purposes. Therefore, it is subject to a series of limitations to guarantee the sustainability of fishing resources and coexistence with other activities on the coast.

In Barcelona, recreational surface fishing is regulated by the Barcelona City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The City Council establishes the hours and areas where you can fish on the beaches, while the Generalitat issues fishing licenses and sets the species, minimum sizes and quantities that can be caught.
