SCOTLAND FISHING TRIPS
WE ORGANIZE YOUR NEXT FISHING TRIP TO SCOTLAND
Fishing in a river in Scotland is going back to the origin of our favorite sport. 200 years ago, when in other parts of the world fishing for Atlantic salmon was a food practice, in the Scottish Highlands it was already an elite sport, practiced with great style, elevated to the category of almost an art.
In the last 50 years, the catches of the River Spey have been about 10,000 salmon, or its equivalent in tons: between 35 and 45 tons of salmon!
The River Spey is the second longest river in the country, running 172 km and the fastest course of any river in Great Britain, with a speed of over 10 feet per mile. It is born at an altitude of 300 meters in Lake Spey, located in the Corrieyairack forest, in the Highlands region (Scottish Highlands), 16 km south of Fort Augustus. It flows through Newtonmore and Kingussie, crosses Insh Loch and reaches Aviemore, at the start of the Spey (Strathspey) valley. From there, it runs northeast until it reaches the larger estuary, known as the Moray Firth.
The River Tay is famous for salmon fishing, and you can also catch brown trout and other freshwater fish.
The main trunk of the river is divided into three fishing sections: Loch Tay, to the confluence with the Tummel, the Tummel to the Island and the Island to the sea.
The river is one of the three main salmon fishing rivers in Scotland. During its course, the course of this river changes its character dramatically.
At the headwaters it flows gently over the highland moors, but below the confluence with the Tummel its current has the force of a great river.
