The Simms Europe Company was the brainchild of visionary angler John Simms who saw a need to develop better waders and accessories than what was then available on the market. That quest led to the development of Simms Fishing Products in 1980. During that era, Simms was one of the first companies worldwide to introduce waders, which provided enhanced warmth and waterproofing gear for serious anglers pushing the limits of their fishing pursuits. In 1993, current owner, K.C. Walsh, a passionate angler and entrepreneur, acquired the company and relocated it to Bozeman.

The Simms brand was founded on the pillars of innovation designing high quality fishing articles to keep fishermen dry, comfortable and protected no matter the conditions. Whether you are an experienced guide or a child taking his first cast from the family dock. Whether your home waters are Tokyo Bay or Bristol Bay
Whether you're pulling a drifting boat or a tournament ready rig, Simms is committed to lowering the barriers that stand between the world's rivers, lakes and open waters and those who hear his call. Because we have seen with our own eyes the power our sport has to bring people together, relieve stress, develop character, restore watersheds and alleviate personal suffering.
Simms was founded in 1980 by visionary fly fisherman and guide John Simms. Having spent decades providing clients with life-changing experiences on the world's most majestic rivers, John realized that the waders available at the time were not up to the job of keeping the people he guided dry, comfortable and safe on the river.
Never mind the guides who, like him, lived and breathed the sport more than 150 days a year. So he set about creating products worthy of a new generation of fishermen who, like him, wanted to go out on the water sooner and stay longer in any climate. By the end of the 1980s, John Simms had put his namesake products on the map as the toughest and most reliable waders in the sport. Having put the company on the right track, he was ready to spend more time on the rivers he loved. After all, it was the reason he built those waders in the first place.
At the same time, he wanted to make sure that Simms continued to manufacture the kind of high quality products for which the brand had become known and on which fishermen had come to depend. K.C. WALSH, RECONSTRUCTING AN INDUSTRY In 1993 K.C. Walsh, a lifelong fisherman raised in a multi-generational fishing family, combined two of his passions, fishing and guiding businesses to realise their full potential. K.C. had spent his career helping businesses grow and prosper as a management consultant.
With the rare combination of K.C.'s devotion to the sport and his deep experience in management, those close to the business knew that Simms would thrive. And he has. In the nearly 25 years under K.C.'s leadership, Simms' product quality has continued to improve, the workforce has continued to grow, and the product line has continued to expand. K.C.'s first business order in 1993 was to move the Simms headquarters to Bozeman, Montana. The move to Bozeman put Simms within a stone's throw of some of the world's most legendary fishing rivers. And where there is great fishing, there are great fishermen.
Simms draws on the experience of these expert anglers, employing them at all levels and in all roles, from designers, developers and product managers, to fitting rooms, consultants and craftsmen. GORE-TEX® WADERS MADE IN BOZEMAN, MONTANA That first year also saw the launch of Simms' first waterproof and breathable wader with GORETEX® construction.
The wader was an innovative success and would prove to be the beginning of a long and productive partnership between Simms and W.L. Gore & Associates. Since then, Simms has become known as a place where the fishing industry looks for the latest advances in GORE-TEX® technology. In 2012, Simms expanded its presence in Bozeman with a new 60,000 square foot facility that houses its corporate headquarters and wader production facility.
The expansion has provided room to drive product development, established Simms as the only wader manufacturer in the U.S., and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to high-quality U.S. manufacturing. Today, Simms is recognized as a global leader in the wader industry and employs more than 180 people at its Bozeman headquarters.
